Far and Away: A scrappy Irish occupant farmer hooks up, in doubtful style, with the comparably feisty daughter of a prosperous landowner, and together they travel to America to seek their final fate in the 1893 Oklahoma land rush. Superlative platform for Tom and Nicole, who are both attractive and involving; the problem is a drastic absence of good dialogue to fill the gaps between fight scenes. Black like Me: Powerful drama based on real history of journalist who took drugs that permitted him to pass for black so he might experience racial prejudice first hand. Trading Mom: It's about three siblings who couldn't stand their mom. Spacek cast a spell which makes her, and all memory of her vanish. (82 minutes, 1994)

Just a Gigolo: Extremely fascinating cast is the best part of this odd melodrama featuring Bowie as a Prussian war vet who floats from job to job in Berlin before ultimately finding his real purpose. Dietrich, in her last film appearance, pops in long enough to sing the title melody. Rome's vigorous performance gives lift to choppy film. Cast includes David Bowie, Sydne Rome, Kim Novak, David Hemmings, Maria Schell, Curt Jurgens, and Marlene Dietrich. (105 minutes, 1979)
House on 92nd Street: Arousing documentary style drama-based movie.
